Dear Lorna & Tom,

Thank you for letting us use your place for our weekend get-a-way, we had such a wonderful weekend. Just what the doctor ordered! I so needed to get away from the stress of it all. I don't know what part was most relaxing wine by the fire, the hot tub, the walks in the woods, the morning quiet stillness watching the deer on the property as I sipped my coffee before the rest of the world woke up, or a combination of it all. Your place is like a little piece of heaven. It was a perfect combination of enjoying the outdoors, unwinding, and relaxing on our weekend away. The girls can't stop talking about the good times we had, and are already planning our trip for next year. Keep a weekend open for us.

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Highbanks several times with my family and friends, and have found the home nice, clean and comfortable.

In summer months we've enjoyed taking long walks, tubing and cooling off in the river, and doing a little target shooting. The Amish neighbors are friendly and it's interesting to see a totally different way of life. We've even purchased some of their homemade jams.

My sons and their friends don't seem to have a problem finding fun things to do in the yard and woods. They also liked hanging out in the lower level, playing ping-pong, and relaxing in the hot tub. My husband and I even had a chance to watch the deer come in and feed early one morning. I couldn't believe how many there were and so close, it was a lovely sight while lounging in bed.

One year we went skiing and snow tubing at a local resort. It was small but just fine for young and beginner skiers. Of course, playing in the snow and hiking is always fun. We took advantage of the hot tub, got steamy and then ran outside and made snow angels - exhilarating! In the evening we played board games and cards. It was relaxing and good family time -- no whining about TV and video games.

The accommodations are great, and quite comfortable for several families. The fully stocked kitchen is nice if you want to prepare meals and snacks. It's roomy and perfect for adults and kids of all ages.

We just returned from our "girls" week-end at your place in Gladwin and I felt compelled to share with you the amazing time we had. All of us lead such busy lives that we don't often take time to "stop and smell the roses" and re-connect with friends and family in a deep and meaningful way...without the fray of technology. We were struck by the beauty and tranquility of the property - whether we were taking a walk, hiking through the woods, or watching the deer feed outside the window in the early morning. The accommodations were very comfortable and inviting and included all the amenities of home. And though we were nestled in the woods, we found there was something for everyone to do from antiquing (which is my passion!), shopping for a one of a kind item in the quaint neighboring towns, or curling up with a good book by the fireplace. All of us had a great time...we’re already making plans for our next retreat!
