A spectacular and secluded north woods get-away is closer than you think. “The High Banks”, in the heart of the state, is only 2 hours from Metro Detroit. Over 450 hilly and wooded acres are divided by the cool, gently flowing waters of the Tobacco River, home to a wide variety of wildlife. Two walking bridges lead to winding trails through the quiet serenity of the forest. An un-forgettable experience! The hilltop lodge, with a wrap around deck overlooking the manicured river flats below, is fully furnished with 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms and can accommodate up to 10 people. It’s many attractive amenities include: a double-sided fireplace on each level, satellite TV, a beautifully tiled gourmet kitchen, and a game room with hot tub, billiards and ping-pong tables. Two fire pits and a barbecue grill complete the package. Kids and pets welcome.

“The High Banks” is an ideal home base for your Pure Michigan adventure. In addition to trout fishing on the Tobacco River and hunting at “The High Banks” (hunting offered for the first time this year, click for details ), there are many activities within a half hour drive: golfing at some of the states finest courses, fishing and hunting on thousands of state and federal lands, boating, canoeing, antiquing, morel mushroom hunting, back-roads country biking, fall color tours, snowmobiling, snow skiing, and much, much more.

“The High Banks” is nestled in the heart of one of Michigan’s largest Amish communities adding a distinctly unique atmosphere to your stay. Our Amish neighbors are known for their hand-made quilts and crafts and a wide variety of foods and home-grown vegetables.
